Dental Implants in Turkey
Replace a missing tooth with a titanium root — fixed, secure, and built to last 20+ years. At our Pendik clinic, a single implant costs £450–£950 per tooth, compared to £2,500–£3,500 in the UK. Same brands, same protocols, transparent pricing in writing.
Who is this treatment for?
Rather than grinding down healthy neighbouring teeth for a bridge, an implant stands on its own — the most conservative long-term option dentistry offers.
Implant-supported dentures (or full implant bridges) feel and function like real teeth. No more adhesive, no slipping when you eat or speak.
Two to three implants can support a fixed bridge — restoring full chewing function without affecting the rest of your mouth.
All-on-4 or All-on-6 protocols replace an entire upper or lower jaw with 4–6 implants supporting a fixed bridge — life-changing for long-term denture wearers.
The treatment process — 2 trips, 3–6 months
Every step is done in our Pendik clinic. Lab work is fully traceable by lot number, and you'll have a fixed timeline before you book a flight.
- 1Remote consultation (free)
Send a recent panoramic X-ray (or an iPhone photo of your smile) via WhatsApp or our online form. Within two working hours we send back a written treatment plan, GBP price, and proposed dates. No deposit, no commitment.
- 2Arrival and CBCT scan
Sabiha Gökçen Airport is 8km from the clinic — we provide a free transfer. On day one you have an examination, a 3D CBCT scan and a final treatment plan signed off in English. Hotel partner discounts available.
- 3Surgical placement (Trip 1)
Under local anaesthetic, the implant fixture is placed in the jawbone. A single tooth takes 30–45 minutes; multiple implants up to 90 minutes. You go back to the hotel the same day with prescription painkillers and aftercare instructions in English.
- 4Suture removal & flight home
Sutures are removed 7–10 days after surgery — either by us before you fly, or by a UK partner dentist on our network. You fly home with a temporary tooth in any visible position.
- 5Healing period (3–6 months)
The implant fuses with your jawbone (osseointegration). During this time we check in monthly via WhatsApp. If anything feels wrong, our UK partners do a free in-person assessment.
- 6Final crown fitting (Trip 2)
Trip two is 4–6 days. Digital impressions, lab work in 3–4 days, then fitting and bite adjustment of the final crown. You leave with the finished smile.
- 712-month remote follow-up
Monthly check-in via WhatsApp for 12 months, plus annual review for the warranty period. UK aftercare partners handle anything that needs in-person attention.
Transparent pricing
Last updated: May 2026£450 – £950 per tooth (single implant + crown)
UK private clinics typically charge £2,500–£3,500 per tooth for the same treatment. Roughly $570–$1,200 USD for international comparison. Our range is wide because the implant brand and crown material make a real difference — we explain both at consultation and you choose. Final price is fixed in your written contract; no upsells, no surprise lab fees.
- Local-brand package: £450–£600 (Implance / Nucleoss + zirconium crown)
- Mid-range: £600–£780 (MIS / Megagen + zirconium crown)
- Premium European: £780–£950 (Straumann / Nobel Biocare + e.max crown)
- Bone graft (if needed): +£150–£300 per site
- Sinus lift (if needed): +£250–£450
"What if I'm back in the UK and something goes wrong?"
This is the question that should be at the top of every dental-tourism shortlist, and it's the one most clinics dodge. Here's exactly how we handle it.
Message us on WhatsApp or email. Photo, video, voice note — whatever's easiest. We respond within 4 working hours.
If we need eyes on it, our UK partner dentists in London (Camden), Manchester (city centre) and Birmingham (Edgbaston) do a free assessment under our agreement. They send us X-rays and notes the same day.
If it's a warranty case, we cover the flight back, transfer, and re-treatment. If it's something the UK partner can fix in one visit, they do — we settle the bill directly. Your cost: nothing.
UK partner network details are listed in your patient pack on arrival, and on a laminated card you take home. The 12-month follow-up is included in every implant treatment — no extra fee.
The three concerns we hear most often
Every surgical instrument is processed in a Class B autoclave — the highest sterilisation grade, the same equipment used in NHS hospitals. Single-use surgical kits are opened in front of you. Cycle logs are digitally archived and audited by the Turkish Ministry of Health. We email a copy of our infection control protocol on request before you book a flight.
Surgical placements are performed under the supervision of Dt. Serdar Demirtürk, who has over 10 years of clinical experience. All three of our dentists are members of the Turkish Dental Association (TDB) — diplomas and registration numbers are displayed in reception. We email PDF copies on request, and most UK patients verify them via the TDB online register before flying. Encouraged.
10 years on the implant fixture, 5 years on the crown — in a signed bilingual contract, with the specific exclusions spelled out (smoking, missed annual check-ups, traumatic injury). If the implant fails within the warranty term, we cover replacement, flight, and transfer. The contract is your document — keep it, share it with your UK dentist, claim it if needed.
Why Turkey, and why Pendik specifically?
Turkey is the world's largest dental tourism market for a reason: costs run 60–80% lower than UK private clinics, while the equipment, materials, and training pipeline are essentially the same. Turkish dentistry follows EU standards (CE-marked materials), and senior dentists routinely train at universities in Germany, the UK and the US.
Pendik is the smarter choice within Istanbul. Most dental tourism clinics cluster around Taksim or Şişli — the European-side tourist districts. They're convenient for first-timers but mean an extra 60–90 minutes of traffic from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, and prices are inflated to match the location.
Our clinic is 8 kilometres from Sabiha Gökçen — a 15-minute taxi ride. Direct flights from London Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Dublin land daily; Pegasus and Turkish Airlines both serve this route. You can be at the clinic 90 minutes after wheels down. We're a residential-neighbourhood clinic that's been serving the same community for 10 years — not a tourist factory optimised for volume.
What people on r/turkeyteeth tend to ask
Anonymised, paraphrased questions from the subreddit — and our honest answers.
- "Why are some clinics quoting £200 per implant? Is it a scam?"Below £400, something is being skipped — usually a no-name implant brand, no CBCT scan, or no warranty in writing. The implant itself costs the clinic £150–£250 at cost. Anything below that means corners.
- "Should I do all my missing teeth in one go?"Often yes for cost efficiency. But over-treatment is the most common complaint on the subreddit — clinics quoting 20+ crowns when 4 implants would solve it. Get a second opinion if the plan feels heavy.
- "What's the deal with package deals that include the hotel?"Not inherently bad, but check the itemised invoice. A bundled price hides where the margin sits. We quote the treatment separately so you can compare like-for-like.
What is a dental implant, and why do dentists prefer it?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed into the jawbone, replacing the root of a missing tooth. Once it has healed (a process called osseointegration), an abutment and ceramic crown are fitted on top. The end result looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth — and unlike a bridge, it doesn't depend on damaging neighbouring teeth to stay in place.
Two structural advantages make implants the gold-standard solution. First, they preserve the jawbone — when a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone begins to resorb within months, and after a few years the change is visible in your face shape. An implant stops this resorption, because it transmits chewing forces back into the bone the way a natural root does. Second, implants don't compromise other teeth. Bridges require the dentist to grind down the two adjacent teeth to anchor the structure, weakening healthy tissue.
How brand choice actually affects the outcome
There are dozens of implant manufacturers on the market. We offer three tiers: local Turkish brands (Implance, Nucleoss — both with TİTCK and CE certification, used widely in Europe); mid-range international (MIS, Megagen — backed by extensive clinical literature); and premium European (Straumann, Nobel Biocare — the brands with the longest track record and the highest 20-year survival rates in published studies).
Honest reality: brand matters less than placement. Roughly 70% of long-term success comes down to surgical technique — angle, depth, primary stability, soft tissue management — and 30% to the implant itself. A correctly placed local-brand implant outperforms a poorly placed Straumann. We tell every patient this, and we don't push the premium tier unless there's a clinical reason (very heavy bite, bruxism, smoker with otherwise good bone).
What if you don't have enough bone?
After a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone begins to atrophy. By 5–10 years post-extraction, around a quarter of patients have lost enough bone height that direct implant placement isn't possible — particularly in the upper back teeth, where the maxillary sinus expands into the gap. Three solutions: sinus lifting (raising the sinus floor and packing bone graft underneath); bone augmentation (adding synthetic or autogenous graft to the deficient area); and short implants (specifically designed for limited bone height). The CBCT scan tells us which is appropriate. Bone grafting adds £150–£300 per site and an extra 4–6 months of healing — but it makes the difference between getting an implant and being told no.
Long-term care: what determines a 20-year implant
Two things matter for long-term implant survival: daily home care (interdental brushes, floss, antibacterial mouthwash) and twice-yearly professional cleaning. The leading cause of late implant failure is peri-implantitis — inflammation of the tissue around the implant — which is almost always preventable with proper hygiene. Smoking is the second-largest risk factor; smokers have 2–3× higher implant failure rates in published studies, and we say so directly to every patient who smokes. We won't refuse treatment, but we will spell out the risk in writing.
What "UK aftercare network" actually means
Most Turkish dental clinics' "UK aftercare" amounts to a WhatsApp number that goes unanswered. Ours is structured: we have working agreements with three partner practices — one in London (Camden Town), one in Manchester (city centre, near Piccadilly Gardens), and one in Birmingham (Edgbaston). They handle initial assessment for any concern, take X-rays, send us notes the same day, and bill us directly under our agreement. You don't pay for the assessment, and you don't wait weeks for an appointment. If the issue needs in-person re-treatment in Turkey and falls under warranty, we cover flight and transfer.
This is the structural difference between us and most volume-driven Istanbul clinics. We've been in Pendik for ten years; we're not going anywhere; and the UK partnership exists because half our overseas patients are UK-based and we'd rather solve their problem in Camden than have them flying back at their own cost.
Frequently asked questions
How much do dental implants cost in Turkey compared to the UK?+
At our Pendik clinic, a single tooth implant costs between £450 and £950 (May 2026 prices), depending on the brand and crown type. The same treatment in the UK ranges from £2,500 to £3,500 per tooth privately, and is rarely available on the NHS. The difference comes from lower lab, lease, and staffing costs in Turkey — not from cutting corners on materials. We use the same Straumann, Nobel Biocare and MIS implants you'd be quoted in London.
Is the placement painful, and what is recovery like?+
The surgical placement is done under local anaesthetic — you won't feel pain during the procedure. Mild swelling and tenderness for 2–3 days afterwards is normal and managed with standard prescription painkillers. Most UK patients fly back the day after surgery without issue. Sedation is available for anxious patients on request.
How many trips to Turkey will I need?+
Most cases need two visits. Trip 1 (3–5 days): consultation, 3D CBCT scan, surgical placement of the implant fixture. Trip 2 (4–6 days, three to six months later): abutment, impressions, fitting of the final crown. If you've had bone grafting, the gap between trips is closer to six months. We coordinate flights and hotel so the dates line up cleanly.
Which implant brands do you use?+
We work in three tiers: local manufacturers (Implance, Nucleoss — both TİTCK and CE certified, used in Turkey for over a decade); mid-range internationally (MIS, Megagen — large clinical literature base); and premium European (Straumann, Nobel Biocare — 40+ years of long-term outcome data). Lot numbers go into your patient file and the certificate is emailed to you. Patients on r/turkeyteeth often ask about this — we don't substitute brands without your written consent.
What happens if the implant fails after I'm back in the UK?+
Implant failure is rare (clinical literature shows 95%+ success at 10 years), but our written warranty covers the implant fixture for 10 years and the crown for 5 years. If something goes wrong, our UK aftercare partners in London, Manchester and Birmingham handle initial assessment locally. If the case is covered, we fly you back at our cost — flight, transfer, and re-treatment are part of the warranty terms, written into the contract you sign before treatment starts.
Will I have a gap in my smile between visits?+
No. We fit a temporary tooth (an immediate provisional crown or a removable temporary) at the time of surgery for any visible front-tooth implant, so you fly home with a complete smile. For molars, the temporary depends on the case — we discuss this in the planning stage.
What if my jawbone isn't thick enough for an implant?+
About 1 in 4 patients who've had a missing tooth for several years need bone augmentation. We offer sinus lifting, bone grafting, and short implants depending on the CBCT scan findings. Bone grafting adds £150–£300 per site and extends the wait between trips, but it allows us to place implants in cases that would otherwise be turned down. We never proceed without enough bone — it's the most common cause of failure long-term.
How sterile is the clinic? I've read horror stories.+
All surgical instruments go through a Class B autoclave (the highest grade, the same standard used in UK hospitals). Single-use surgical kits are opened in front of you. Sterilisation cycles are digitally logged and audited by the Turkish Ministry of Health. Our infection control protocol document is available on request. The r/turkeyteeth horror stories overwhelmingly involve clinics that took shortcuts on sterilisation — ask any clinic for their autoclave class and audit logs before booking.
Who actually does the surgery?+
Implant surgery at our clinic is performed under the supervision of Dt. Serdar Demirtürk, who has over 10 years of clinical experience. Our two general dentists, Dt. Ayşenur Güneş and Dt. Emine İpşir, handle restorative work. All credentials, Turkish Dental Association membership numbers and diplomas are displayed in reception, and we email PDF copies on request before you book your flight.
Can I claim any of this on UK private dental insurance?+
Some UK insurance providers (Bupa, Denplan, AXA) reimburse part of overseas treatment if you submit the right paperwork. We provide an itemised invoice in English with treatment codes, materials used, and the dentist's signature — the format most UK insurers accept. We can't guarantee reimbursement (every policy is different), but the documentation we provide gives you the best chance of a successful claim.
